Design

The BS5169 Air Receivers Design Code covers air receivers of 3 classes, Class 1, Class 2 and Class 3

It  has been around for a very long time, is tried and tested and proven to meet the required  safety requirements of storing compressed air within the limits of that code.

We use this Design code for our standard stock Air Receiver range providing Great British quality, reliability and durability. Our standard stock range is PED compliant and CE marked. As the minimum steel thickness used is 5mm this also allows a sensible corrosion allowance of 0.75mm.

Many air receivers imported today with CE marks have far inferior design and build specifications.  Despite incredibly thin material thicknesses, nozzles sitting on punched holes the shell with a fillet weld around, there are local European design codes that enable them to be CE marked.
