We regularly receive enquiries for pressure vessels and air receivers to the ASME design code with a U-stamp requirement – very often the U-stamp is not required!
The American market tends to look after itself for the manufacture, supply and U-stamping of their receivers; ironically the only place that requires the U-stamp is the USA, so it is unlikely that the vessels for which we have equiries really require it. Pressure vessels and air receivers used elsewhere in the world and in most other industries might want designing using the ASME design code or PD5500 but will most likely not actually need a U-stamp.
We design and build pressure vessels and air receivers in accordance with ASME and they are third-party approved by Lloyds Register. These vessels have full design approval in accordance with ASME signed off by the third-party, with justification and CE marking which is frequently more relevant to the customer and their industry. They may also be approved by DNV, ABS or Lloyds Class themselves.
